Welcome to The DEO
Get a clear diagnosis, a prioritized plan, and zero guesswork.
Most dental group practice owners know something is wrong — revenue is inconsistent, team performance varies by location, patient flow feels chaotic, or case acceptance is unpredictable — but cannot identify exactly where the problem is coming from. Remote coaching and financial reporting can get you close. An onsite assessment gets you there. The DEO's operators have spent decades inside dental organizations at every stage of the Growth Ladder — and they know exactly what to look for, where to find it, and how to build the fix.

What to expect at each step
Your Growth Accelerator Call
Every DEO onsite assessment starts with a free 30 minute Growth Accelerator Call. A DEO operator reviews your current operational situation, identifies the locations and functional areas where an onsite assessment would be most impactful, and outlines exactly what the assessment process involves and what you can expect to receive at the end of it. The call also establishes whether an onsite assessment is the right starting point for your organization, or whether another DEO service would address your most pressing constraint more directly.
Assessment planning and scheduling
Once the onsite assessment is confirmed your DEO assessor works with your team to plan the visit, determining which locations to assess, which team members and workflows to observe, and what the specific focus areas of the assessment will be based on the operational challenges you have identified. For multi location organizations with significant operational complexity, The DEO may recommend assessing multiple locations across separate visits to get the most complete picture of where consistency gaps exist and where the highest impact improvements are.
The onsite assessment visit
Your DEO assessor arrives on site and spends focused time inside your practice or locations, observing patient flow and scheduling systems, shadowing front desk and clinical team members, sitting in on case presentations, reviewing how SOPs are actually being applied, and assessing team dynamics and communication patterns in real conditions. The assessment is comprehensive and firsthand. Your assessor is not interviewing leadership about what they think is happening. They are watching what is actually happening and building the diagnostic picture from direct observation.
Assessment report, debrief, and action plan
Within a defined timeframe after the assessment visit your DEO assessor delivers a comprehensive written report documenting findings, identifying gaps, and presenting a prioritized action plan with specific, sequenced improvement recommendations. The report debrief is a working session. Your assessor walks through the findings with you and your leadership team, answers questions, clarifies priorities, and ensures that the action plan is understood and ready to execute.
Real practice owners. Real results.
DEO members don't just feel better about their businesses — they build fundamentally different ones. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Frequently asked questions

A DEO onsite assessment puts an experienced dental operator physically inside your practice or locations for a comprehensive firsthand operational review. Your DEO assessor observes patient flow and scheduling systems, shadows front desk and clinical team members, sits in on treatment presentations, reviews whether SOPs are actually being followed, and assesses team dynamics, communication patterns, and provider productivity in real conditions. The assessment produces a detailed written report with specific, prioritized action items tied to your most significant operational gaps, giving your leadership team an immediately executable improvement roadmap built from direct observation rather than self reporting or financial data alone.
The length of a DEO onsite assessment depends on the size and complexity of your organization and the number of locations being assessed. A single location assessment typically involves one to two days on site. Multi location assessments may involve separate visits to different locations to get the most accurate picture of where consistency gaps exist across the organization. Your DEO assessor will establish the specific visit structure and timeline during the assessment planning process, ensuring that the time on site is focused on the locations and functional areas where the assessment will be most impactful.
Every DEO onsite assessment produces a comprehensive written report documenting what was observed, what the operational gaps are, and a specific prioritized action plan for addressing them. The report debrief is a working session with your DEO assessor — walking through the findings with you and your leadership team, clarifying priorities, and ensuring the action plan is understood and ready to execute. The report feeds directly into your coaching relationship — so the improvements the assessment identifies are supported, tracked, and built upon in every subsequent session.
"Seven years ago we had three practices and visions of what we wanted to do but no roadmap and no tools. Today we are at 18 locations and we intend to continue to grow. The DEO broke our business down and helped us rebuild it in a much more effective and efficient way."
"When I joined I think we were doing around $11 million. We do about $20 million now. It was tough to navigate — every day felt like new territory. DEO helped me figure out how to grow strategically without running myself into the ground."
"Before joining DEO I was in the chair five days a week every week. Today I am 95% out of the chair. I have learned that I am far more efficient working on my business than in my business."
"The best thing we learned from DEO is that this is a business for people. Once we started tuning into our doctors, hygienists, front desk, and office managers the business took a different shape. Once you understand the fundamentals lie with the people — the numbers take care of themselves."
"Prior to joining DEO we had one office. We now have four locations — and in that original office we demolished it and built a new one double the size. A lot of it was we just did not know how to do certain things. DEO showed us there was a better way."
"When we started with DEO we had three to four locations. Since then we have grown to eight and we are about to open two more to hit 10. Me and my partner both do not practice full time anymore. DEO helped us understand the strategy behind the growth and gave us the confidence that we could actually do it."
"Talking to groups that are larger gives me a reference for what the future can hold and what the end result can be for us. It gives us motivation to keep going — and helps me see the positive in every situation."
"When we started we had four locations. Now we have 12. I take a month off every year — this last year went to Portugal and Iceland. When I joined DEO in 2018 I was practicing five days a week, had a two hour commute, and two kids under five. It was pretty stressful."
"We did about $6.5 million together last year and we should hit close to $8 million this year. When you start to scale you do not know what you do not know — and DEO stepped in and gave me clear direction and prioritization to say this is what we should be working on now and this is what is coming next."
"We went from $3M to $5M in revenue, and when I look back at all the decisions we've made building our company, The DEO has easily been the most impactful."
"My biggest frustration was I wanted to grow but I did not know how to do it without undermining the special way I take care of patients. I did not want to ruin something that was really good. DEO helped me figure out how to grow in a way that kept our mission going in the right direction."
"I spent nine years thinking the best way to be successful was to be the best clinician I could be. I ignored the business totally. DEO gave me the financial clarity I never had — and this year we are on track to go from $1.6 million to over $2 million."
"Before DEO we were at one location with 11 team members and heavily insurance dependent. We now have three locations, solid team members at all positions, and are moving more and more away from insurance dependence. We are stronger, leaner, and faster than we have ever been."
